I have been here going two months now and I rely on this app. 

The benefits of being picked up anywhere and not having to walk to train stations in the Japanese heat (atsu sugiru) and having the driver know where you want to go (no language issues) are considerable.

The other benefits of not having to use your cash (it links to a credit card) even though cabs here are cheap is also a plus and the fact that the app asks you how you enjoyed the ride and to rate your driver keeps them honest on the fare and conscious of their service. The Japanese are very polite even without the rating system but it is nice to have incentive for them to keep the fare close to what was shown when you requested the cab.

The app shows you were the cab is so you can meet them at the corner or wherever you see them sitting. Lots of pluses … take a look at it before you come.
